A combination deck and screened-in porch extended the living space for these Little Compton homeowners while the columns added a classical appeal. Lighting was discreetly installed in the deck columns for function and ambiance, and copper post-tops complemented the copper gutters. We chose IPE for the decking, wood from a large tropical hardwood tree that is prized for its durability, strength, and natural resistance to decay, wet conditions, and insects.
